Project Overview

JS-Houses developed and delivered a modular worker accommodation solution for the Unit Housing Facilities Construction Project in Weinan, China, providing a practical and organized dormitory environment for workers during the construction process. The project was initiated to meet the need for centralized accommodation on site while maintaining suitable living conditions and an efficient construction schedule.

For this project, we adopted our standard box-type modular building system, with each unit measuring 6055mm × 2990mm × 2900mm and incorporating a 75mm insulation layer. A total of 82 modular units were configured and installed to form a dedicated worker dormitory area.

We arranged the modular units according to the practical requirements of worker accommodation. The dormitory spaces can be equipped with beds, lighting, power outlets, air-conditioning provisions, doors, windows and ventilation facilities to support everyday living needs. The modules can also be combined in single- or multi-story configurations according to the available site conditions, creating a practical and orderly accommodation area.

Considering Weinan’s seasonal temperature variations, we incorporated a 75mm insulation system into the modular buildings. The walls, roof and floor systems provide thermal insulation, heat protection, waterproofing and sealing performance, helping improve indoor comfort during both warmer and colder periods of the year.

The project followed our established factory prefabrication + on-site lifting and assembly method. Major structural and enclosure components were prefabricated at the factory before transportation to the site, while installation was mainly completed through lifting and assembly. This reduced conventional wet construction work and on-site construction waste while improving the efficiency of transportation and installation.

The implementation of all 82 modular dormitory units was completed as a concentrated project, allowing the worker accommodation facilities to be established efficiently and put into use within the construction program. The standardized modular dimensions also simplified transportation, installation and future management of the accommodation area.

Through this project, JS-Houses provided a practical modular solution focused on worker accommodation, combining standardized construction, thermal performance and flexible site arrangement. The detachable and reusable modular structure also provides the possibility of future relocation or repeated use, helping reduce material waste and improve the long-term flexibility of temporary accommodation facilities.
